Southwell Pre-School is a play based setting which aims to develop happy, confident and successful learners. We use the practice guidance from the early years foundation stage to plan from. The prime areas within the foundation stage curriculum form the main focus of our planning and activities. These include personal, social and emotional development (PSED), physical development (PD) and communication and language (CL). Such activities include:
Role play and dressing up.
Painting and mark making.
Sand and water.
Climbing equipment and wheeled vehicles.
Sensory exploration activities.
Basic IT skills on the computer.
Cosy book corner.
We assess the children's learning and development by observing them frequently. We use information from these observations to document their progress and set individual next steps. From this, activities are planned to help consolidate to move children's learning on.
